Apprehensive about the service of a new smp practitioner?

Being new to the SMP industry, I’ve learnt that there is quite a negative perception about new artists trying to make it in the trade. We have this stigma attached to us that we are to blame for most of the botched jobs to which their photos are circulating the internet.

However, this is not the case. If an artist is keen on learning something new, and undertaken an extensive amount of research, has carried out an appropriate amount of training and practise. Adding to this, has a good understanding of scalp and face anatomy, as well as the correct way of using the tattoo machine, and exacting the process of matching pigments to different skin tones, they are most likely to be successful from the very first client.

My approach to a client for the first time that might have some doubts about my work, is a short demonstration of my SMP skills on a sheet of silicone.

(Silicone replicates human skin texture.) During this demonstration the client can observe my needle impressions, spacing, speed and confidence. After the short demo if the client is content with my work, then we can start the first session, leaving the client more at ease and relaxed throughout the treatment.

This is a process that’s unique, invented and tested by myself. I honestly think that this should be implemented as an industry standard for new and upcoming SMP artists.
